Afghanistan Through My Eyes - 3rd gender

I don't have the statistics in regarding the female or third gender in the Afghanistan War, but you can bet I'll be getting them.

In mid-April, hopefully, I'll be traveling with the 3BCT 25th Division.

It's crazy how women have been denied the recognition they deserve, awards, decorations and their rightful place in history. The American Military doesn't acknowledge their combat status.

But women have been involved in war throughout history and some even taken prisoner of war. I haven't read this book, but I'm getting it and will review. If anyone has read it already, write a review and I'll post it.

Operation Desert Storm saw the capture and imprisonment of an Army Flight Surgeon, Major Rhonda Cornum and an Army Transportation Specialist-Sp4 Melissa Rathbun-Nealy.
Major CornumThe real story of Major Cornum's experiences as a prisoner is told in her own words in this excellent book "She Went to War". It is a remarkable narrative by a courageous military officer - who happens to be a woman, wife and mother as well as a physician, pilot and soldier.
